Legal Committee
The Legal Committee was created by City resolution in
2005. Five members are appointed by the Mayor with the
consent of the City Council. The Mayor and one alderman
serve as ex-officio members of the Committee. They serve a
maximum of three two-year terms on a staggered basis.
The purpose of the Legal Committee is to review and
monitor legal claims filed against the City. With the City
Attorney, the committee is responsible for reviewing the
City’s Litigation Management Policy, recent legal decisions
and opinions, related ordinances and contracts, and other
relevant materials in order to promote the efficient and
effective management of litigation and threats of litigation
against the City.
The Commission meets on an as-needed basis at City Hall,
220 East Deerpath, Lake Forest, IL
