Apparatus

Below you will find a brief description of each of the LFFD's firehouses, along with a description of the apparatus that are generally housed at that station.

Fire Station 1 – Headquarters

Lake Forest Fire Station 1 is located at 255 W. Deerpath. Fire Station 1 was constructed in 1969 and replaces the station located in the building now housing the South Gate Café Restaurant. Fire Station 1 is manned 24 hours per day with 4 to 7 fire personnel, including a shift commander.

Engine 216 - 1994 Pierce Saber fire engine constructed by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton WI. This apparatus has 1000 gallons of water and a 1500 gallon per minute pump. Engine 216 is a front line apparatus at station 1 and is equipped with auto extrication tool and Advance Life Support medical equipment.

Engine 215 - 1991 Pierce Lance fire engine constructed by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton WI. This apparatus has 750 gallons of water and a 1500 gallon per minute pump. Engine 215 is a reserve apparatus at station 1.

Tower 231 - 1991 Pierce Lance Ladder Truck constructed by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton WI. This apparatus has 200 gallons of water and a 1500 gallon per minute pump. Truck 231 has a 100’ ladder with an attached basket which is used to carry firefighters and equipment to elevated locations.

Squad 251 - 1991 Pierce Dash Rescue Squad constructed by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton WI. This apparatus is used to carry manpower and equipment to incident scenes.

Ambulance 243 - 2009 International constructed by Horton Ambulance of Ohio. This ambulance is equipped with Advance Cardiac and Life Support devices and provides the latest is patient care and resuscitation. It is staffed by two paramedics

Ambulance 242 - 2005 International constructed by Road Rescue Ambulance of Florida. This ambulance is equipped with Advance Cardiac and Life Support devices and provides the latest is patient care and resuscitation. It is staffed by two paramedics as needed.

Reserve Ambulance 244 - 2004 Ford constructed by Road Rescue Ambulance of Florida. This ambulance is equipped with Advance Cardiac and Life Support devices and provides the latest is patient care and resuscitation. It is used when any of the front line ambulance are out of service and is used at special details and events.

Utility (Brush Truck) 276 - 2004 Chevrolet Sierra ½’ ton pickup. 276 carries a 150 gallon water tank and pump and is used for grass and brush fires. 276 is also used to pull special apparatus such as the support trailer and boat.

MABAS Boat - The MABAS boat was purchased by Illinois MABAS which is an organization that provides assistance and equipment to fire departments. The MABAS boat is 24’ long and has a 60 horse powered Mercury motor.

14’ Support Trailer - Used for water cleanup and smoke evacuation equipment. The trailer also carried firefighter rehab equipment and safety related items.

Fire Station 2

Lake Forest Fire Station 2 is located at 1111 S. Telegraph. Fire Station 2 was constructed in 1993 and replaced the Everett Fire Station which was the old Everett School House. Fire Station 2 is manned 24 hours per day.

Engine 212 - 2008 Pierce Dash fire engine constructed by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton WI. This apparatus has 500 gallons of water and a 1500 gallon per minute pump. Engine 216 is a front line apparatus at station 1 and is equipped with auto extrication tool and Advance Life Support medical equipment.

Ambulance 241 - 2007 International constructed by Horton Ambulance of Ohio. This ambulance is equipped with Advance Cardiac and Life Support devices and provides the latest is patient care and resuscitation. It is staffed by two paramedics.

SRT Bus - Used to transport personnel during large disaster operations, as well as for rehab and support.
