Lake Forest Fire Department members are trained and serve on a number of special teams. If Lake Forest or a neighboring town has a large scale emergency incident, they can call on other departments to send additional equipment or manpower.

Specialty teams include:

Below Ground and Trench Rescue -- for underground emergencies and trench cave-ins.

Confined Space Team -- for rescue of victims in a confined space that has limited means of entry.

Dive Team -- underwater rescue and recovery team.

Extrication Team -- competes in vehicle extrication competitions to gain the knowledge to better train firefighters.

HAZMAT -- manages a scene where a dangerous chemical is a threat to human and environmental safety.

High Angle Rescue -- to rescue victims stranded at an unusual high angle, i.e.; window washers, water tower workers, etc.

Structural Collapse -- for rescue and recovery and stabilizing a weakened or collapsed structure.
