City
ordinance requires all motor vehicles registered or housed
in The City of Lake Forest to display City Vehicle Licenses.
Any vehicle not registered for vehicle tags will be subject
to fine or penalties. The license year is May 1 to April 30. The deadline for purchasing and displaying current
stickers is April 30. Beginning May 1, the resident will be at
risk of receiving a $75.00 ticket from the Police Department. The fees for motor
vehicle license are listed below. Seniors age 65 and over
receive a discounted fee of $45. It is one discount per
senior.
New residents moving into Lake Forest or those who purchase
a new vehicle should purchase vehicle stickers within 72 hours
of those events. Parking at the Forest Park Beach or use
of the Compost Center in The City of Lake Forest is
prohibited unless the vehicle displays a City vehicle
sticker. The licenses are available for purchase at
the Municipal Services Building, 110 E Laurel Avenue, Lake
Forest. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please Note:
- Vehicle stickers must be purchased by April 30, 2008.
- Residents who purchase
a vehicle license at the Municipal Services Building
will not receive the vehicle sticker over the counter at
the time of purchase. The purchased sticker will be
mailed to the resident's home.
- As of May 1, 2008, the vehicle license fee includes
a 50% late penalty* fee for residents who have not renewed
their vehicle tags as required by ordinance.
*Penalty will be waived if you have
purchased your vehicle within the last 72 hours, just bring
your purchasing contract or other proof of purchase into our
office to get the fee waived.

*REPLACEMENTS: If you have purchased a vehicle
sticker for your vehicle and you are replacing that
vehicle with a new one, you will need to pull your
current vehicle sticker off of you vehicle (it is
natural for the vehicle sticker to come off in
pieces) and bring that sticker into the Municipal
Services Building. We will replace that
sticker with a new one for a fee of $5.00. |
