Lake Forest is served by two Metra Rail Lines:

  • Union Pacific North Line at 701 N. McKinley Road (downtown Lake Forest)
  • Milwaukee District North Line at 911 S. Telegraph Road (west Lake Forest)

The City of Lake Forest requires payment of a $3.00 daily fee or display of a parking permit hang tag to park in one of the Central Business District (CBD) or train station parking lots. The location of these lots can be viewed by clicking on one of the map links in the navigation bar above. A parking permit does not include the Forest Park Beach parking lots. Parking permits may also be purchased at the Municipal Services Building, 800 N. Field Drive, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Questions regarding parking permits can be directed to 847-810-3622.

Please note:  Parking permits will arrive via US Mail in 3-5 days from purchase

Daily Fee Parking
For a fee of $3.00, daily parking is available in the numbered parking spaces located at Westminster, Oakwood and North Shore parking lots in the CBD area and the Telegraph Road Train Station parking lot at Everett and Telegraph Roads. Located near the designated daily parking area in these lots is an upright box that has numbered slots which correspond to a numbered parking space. Individuals wishing to use a daily fee parking space are required to deposit bills, coins or a daily parking token in the corresponding slot Monday - Saturday, 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Parking is not allowed from 3:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m. in these daily fee parking spaces.

Tokens can be purchased at City Hall (220 E. Deerpath) and the Municipal Services Center (800 N. Field Drive) on weekdays during regular business hours and all Lake Forest Bank and Trust facilities. Please call Lake Forest Bank and Trust at 847-234-2882 to check hours and availability at each location. An envelope of 10 tokens costs $25, which is a savings of $5.00 for the tokens valued at $30. Commuters can also pay the daily parking fee in bills or coins at a cost of $3.00 each day.
