Parks & Forestry Section                                     

The Parks & Forestry Section of the Parks & Recreation Department works closely with community organizations and various City departments on park and tree-related issues.  Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining 200+ acres of City parks
  • Maintaining & planting trees in parks and public areas
  • Maintaining Tree City USA certification
  • Maintaining athletic fields in the parks
  • Maintaining & beautifying the community by caring
    for landscaping throughout the city
  • Maintenance of city bike paths
  • Mowing cul-de-sacs
  • Tree preservation on ravines & bluffs
  • Monitoring of insects & disease on private and public
    property
  • Controlled burns on public property for habitat restoration
    & invasive species control

2012 Park Facility Reservation Form and Regulations

The 2012 park facility reservation season is here and we have new policy that goes into effect as of Feb. 1, 2012.  The links below are for the regulations and application form that needs to be filled out.

2012 Forest Park Beach Pavilion Rental Reservation Form and Regulations

Lake Forest residents interested in reserving park facilities for a family outing must observe the Park Reservation Regulations noted in the downloadable form listed below. Written requests must be submitted at least ten (10) business days prior to the date requested. Phone reservations are not accepted. All written requests are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and are considered tentative until approved by the program Manager.  To reserve park facilities, an Application for Parks Reservation Form must be completed and approved. 

Park facilities can be reserved at Deerpath Community, Everett Park, Northcroft Park, South Park, Waveland Park, Townline Community Park and West Park. See the Park Reservation Regulations  listed above for more information.

To have alcoholic beverages in a City park, an Application for Liquor License must also be completed and approved. For more information regarding a liquor license, please contact City Clerk Cathryn Buerger at 847-810-3674 or via email.
