Compassion Projects
Human beings need to feel that they are essential to the well-being of the world. This is a basic human need for mental and emotional health. Children, from an early age, enjoy knowing that they have “helped” others in some fashion. We believe in a world where compassion and giving back are at the very heart; therefore, “compassion projects” are interwoven throughout our students’ lives while attending KPA.  Read about our projects!

BLUE IN REVIEW

WEEKS IN REVIEW:

Happy New Year from the Blue class!  The children have started off the new year full of zest and enthusiasm!  Throughout observation and large group discussion the class has decided to explore and research the ins and outs of castles.  We are all very excited to learn about these beautiful fortresses.
Thus far, the children have examined the exterior of a castle through books, pictures, and you-tube videos.  Each child has begun to construct their own castle using a recyclable box and an assortment of popsicle sticks.  The children have also started creating turrets with paper towel rolls and have had the opportunity to begin building their own version of a castle with molding sand.  All in all, the Blue Class is off to a great start learning and studying different components of a castle.

PREVIEW

- The children will continue to construct and decorate their popsicle stick castles and sand castles.  The class will also begin building a large castle with a variety of recyclable boxes they have brought from home.  Our goal is to act as brick layers and cover the entire exterior with bricks (aka sugar cubes).

-  The children will continue to partake in Spanish Class every Monday 11:00 - 11:30.

-  The class will also carry on with their journal pages.  A great way to help at home is to identify the weekly letter and discuss with your child different objects that begin with the letter sound and together reproduce the letter with a writing utensil.

PARENT’S CORNER

A BIG thank you to all of our parent volunteers!!!!!
-Thank you to Jennifer Goldman for helping out with picture day!
-Thank you to Ben Halperin aka “Daddy Bendo” for orchestrating fun filled games!
-Thank you to all the wonderful moms who helped put on a “spook-tacular” Halloween party!
-Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time to read to the children.
We certainly appreciate all of our parent’s help and support in the classroom.

KID’S CORNER

Recently we had a large group discussion regarding castles.  We were curious to hear what the children already knew about castles.  Such as who lives in a castle, what is inside and outside a castle.  Here are a few of their comments.

Christian - “Fire breathing dragons live in a castle”
Connor - “Knights live in a castle”
Hal - “Queens live in a castle”
Shalini - “There is a moat around a castle”  “Castles are made of brick”
Emerson - “Castles have bridges that are made out of doors”
Asher - “I like to build sand castles”
Sarah - “Princesses live in castles”
Phoebe - “You can make a castle with toys”

Ryan and Emerson check out a conch shell

Daniel feels the inside of the conch shell.
