Compassion Projects
Human beings need to feel that they are essential to the well-being of the world. This is a basic human need for mental and emotional health. Children, from an early age, enjoy knowing that they have “helped” others in some fashion. We believe in a world where compassion and giving back are at the very heart; therefore, “compassion projects” are interwoven throughout our students’ lives while attending KPA.  Read about our projects!

WEEKS IN REVIEW:

The children have continued their studies on community helpers.  We had so much fun exploring the significance of a mail carrier!  The past couple weeks have been filled with activities involving various ideas pertaining to the mail system.  We began our studies by observing different mailboxes.  As a class, we worked together to paint a cardboard box blue and embellished it with blue tissue paper to resemble a U.S.A. mail box.  The following school day the children were so excited to discover a mail carrier had delivered a special letter to them in their classroom mailbox!  Thanks again for helping make this activity so successful!  Some of the other activities the children participated in were creating beautiful postcards to mail to their houses and producing stamp art with potatoes.  All in all, we had a fun filled time learning and discovering the importance of mail carriers.

A SNEAK PEAK:

The Purple Class will continue to learn about community helpers. We have started to explore the role of a doctor.  We began our studies by examining various tools and supplies that a doctor may use to help us feel better.  The children had the opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas   about going to the doctor’s office during large group.  Later, they had the opportunity to role play with these materials using stuffed animals as their patients.

This week the Purple Class will continue their studies about Doctors and continue to engage in an assortment of activities that involve this profession.

KID’S CORNER:

EMMA - “I cried at the doctor’s”.  “Sometimes when I’m sick I throw up in my bed”

MORGAN - “You go to the doctor’s to get a check-up”
