Scales Rule at Reptile Rampage
Hobnob with herps from all over the world at the Wildlife Discovery Center’s fourteenth annual Reptile Rampage. This gigantic education-only reptile show will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the City of Lake Forest’s Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Road.

Reptile Rampage is a great opportunity for the whole family to spend the day getting up close and personal to some amazing and unique reptiles. For $8 per adult and $5 per child, visitors can meet over 150 animals including “Bubba” the famous American Alligator, the Wildlife Discovery Center's celebrated rattlesnake collection, lizards, snakes of all shapes and sizes, turtles, crocodilians, tortoises, frogs and much more. Visitors will also have the chance to talk with some of the Midwest’s most knowledgeable reptile enthusiasts from local zoos, universities, museums, nature centers, and private collections.

Some of the featured exhibitors will include Jim Nesci from Cold Blooded Creatures, the St. Louis Herpetological Society, the Chicago Herpetological Society, Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History, Malone University’s Zoo Biology Degree Program (for those wanting to pursue a career in the zoo sciences), Windy City Reptiles, Reptile Rampage, Inc., the Max Schewitz Foundation, Small Scale Rescue of Wisconsin, and many more.

In addition to the many reptiles on display, there will be children’s Play-Doh stations, hand-painted tattoo artistry and face painting for the kids, a Scout Patch challenge ($5 extra for the patch), a fabulous silent auction, refreshments, and much more.

Reptile Rampage is once again being sponsored by BTG International Inc., an international specialist healthcare company that manufactures CroFab® (crotalidae polyvalent immune fab (ovine)), the antivenin used at the Wildlife Discovery Center. All proceeds from Reptile Rampage will benefit the Wildlife Discovery Center.

So, if you’ve been thinking about getting a reptile as a pet and need some advice, or you just want to learn more about these amazing animals, plan to bring the whole family to Reptile Rampage.
