Citizens Fire Academy

The Lake Forest Fire Department is ready to kick off its annual Citizens Fire Academy beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2018 and running every Tuesday for six weeks, ending on November 13, 2018 with a start time of 7:00pm. This is an interactive program designed to familiarize our citizens with the department personnel, equipment used, and Fire Department operations.  It also provides a forum for the Department and citizens to share information and concerns.  The Citizens Fire Academy is dedicated to increasing public awareness and creating a safer environment at home and in the workplace, and it is FUN!

  • History and overview of the Fire Department                       
  • Fire apparatus/Engine operations
  • Fire gear & Emergency Medical Services
  • Incident Command
  • Mutual Aid 
  • Auto Extrication 
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Ladder Truck Operations 
  • Fire Prevention
  • Special Teams
  • Home Fire Safety


Participants must be 18 years of age (16 with parental permission) and reside or own a business in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff or Knollwood.  Click HERE to download the 2018 CFA application.
