The Lake Forest Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau is committed to educating our citizens on the many ways to stay safe in an ever changing world. This is accomplished through tours, elementary school programs, senior citizen smoke detector installations, and public speaking engagements.

What does the “Bureau” do?

  • Perform safety inspections on all buildings within the City to ensure they meet current NFPA codes.
  • Performs inspections for different types of permits: Life Safety, Tent, Inflatable/Carnival Ride, Fireworks/Pyrotechnics, Bonfire/Ceremonial and Open Burn Permits.
  • Knox Box: Our Fire Prevention Bureau is also responsible for Knox Box requests.
  • Conducts classes for local boy/girl scouts. Including, but not limited to First Aid and Community Member talks.
  • Visit grade schools twice a year to teach the Risk Watch program, which is a fun and educational tool to teach fire safety, fall prevention and personal safety.

What can we do for YOU?

  • Tours: See what it’s like in a day of a Firefighter/Paramedic. Come out to either of our stations for a tour. For larger groups, it is always best to call ahead.
  • Having a block/birthday party? Call ahead to arrange a visit for you Fire Department. We love to visit our Lake Forest residents!
  • Speaking Engagement: If you’d like to have the Fire Department come out and speak at an event, please contact our Fire Prevention Office for arrangements.
