Lake Forest Fire Department members are trained and serve on a number of special teams. If Lake Forest or a neighboring town has a large scale emergency incident, they can call on other departments to send additional equipment or manpower.

Specialty teams include:

TRT (Technical Rescue Team)

Below Ground & Trench Rescue -- for underground emergencies and trench cave-ins.

Confined Space Rescue -- for victims in a confined space that has limited means of entry.

High Angle Rescue -- for victims stranded at an unusual high angle, (i.e., window washers, water tower workers, etc.

Structural Collapse -- rescue and recovery and stabilization of weakened or collapsed structures.

Water Rescue & Recovery Team -- responsible for all incidents involving bodies of water and incudes two discplines; dive and sonar.

Dive members -- tasked with the rescue and/or recovery of drowning victms and often assist police agencies with evidence recovery as well.

Sonar members - utilize specialized equipment to search for and locate victims and/or evidence.

HAZMAT Team -- manages a scene where a dangerous chemical is a threat to human and environmental safety.
