The next phase of the project involves removing the steel sheet pilings at the Pump Station building site at the southwest corner of Deerpath and Ahwahnee Lane.
Vibrating equipment will be utilized to assist with the removal of the pilings from the ground. While there will be noise generated from the vibration process to remove the pilings, it will not be as significant as the noise and vibrations produced during the initial sheet piling pounding process completed months ago. The work is currently scheduled to begin around next Tuesday, September 28 and run through Tuesday, October 19, 2021, weather dependent.
Sheet piling is used to secure the ground from falling into the pump station area as the deep excavation took place. Since the concrete walls of the building have now cured and the area has been backfilled, it is normal construction sequencing to remove the sheet piling, as it no longer has any purpose to secure earth around the building four walls. This work will not impact traffic and both lanes on Deerpath Road, Ahwahnee Road, and Ahwahnee Lane will remain open. Work will occur between the hours of 7 am – 4 pm.
Minor landscaping activities will continue around Detention Pond #1 (west pond) and Detention Pond #2 (east pond) the week of September 27. Pond landscaping work is substantially completed and the areas will officially open up to golfers next spring. Check out the FAQ section for a detailed planting list.
A streetscape/landscape plan for the north side of Deerpath Road along the golf course is also being developed. The plan is currently in its preliminary design phase. Check back for updates soon!
