Susan has worked for the City as Communications Manager since 2010. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising and English from the University of Illinois. She has worked for the City since 2002 and was the Executive Assistant to the City Manager.
Susan oversees overall communications for the City, including public relations, media relations and publicity. She develops, writes, edits and manages the production of a range of materials to effectively support the mission and vision of the City and to convey its message to residents. Susan is responsible for overseeing the City's web site and social media, the quarterly "Dialogue" newsletter, brand management, press releases, and creating concepts and materials for special projects and City Council initiatives. She is a member of the national City-Council Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA), the Northwest Municipal Conference Local Government Communicators Committee, and the PR Council of Lake County.
Susan is a lifelong resident. Prior to working for the City, she was Associate Director of Gorton Community Center and worked as an account executive and copywriter at an advertising agency in Chicago.
