Ragdale Ring Summer Performances are Back

Ragdale, the historic artists’ residency in Lake Forest, kicks off the seventh annual Ragdale Ring Performance Series on Wednesdays, June 12, July 10, and August 14, concluding with a multimedia dinner party for all ages on Saturday, September 14. These one-of-a-kind performances feature a mix of live music, storytelling, contemporary art and dance, and are curated by Ragdale artist alumni in cooperation with their creative colleagues. The staged Ring performances begin at 7pm. New this year guests are invited to arrive early for special pre-show tours, open studios, and/or chef demonstrations. Guests are encouraged to bring their family and friends, a lawn chair, and picnic. Special tastings and beverages will also be available for purchase. These arts-filled outdoor performances typically last 75-90 minutes and take place in the 2019 Ragdale Ring, an inventive constellation of three round discs designed by David Costanza and Piergianna Mazzocca. The summer line-up is as follows: Wednesday, June 12- SUMMER PREVIEW & RING UNVEILING Performance at 7pm Meet the Houston-based architectural team, winners of the 2019 Ragdale Ring design competition and help unveil the new Ring. Also, welcome the outstanding artist/curators and experience a concert-style sampling of all three upcoming summer performances. Wednesday, July 10- CENTRO SOCIAL/SOCIAL CLUB Studio tours at 6pm; performance at 7pm A showcase of music, visual culture, contemporary art and entertainment where underground cool meets the nightclub vibe. Curated by artist/DJ Sadie Woods. Wednesday, August 14- STORY JAM Studio tours at 6pm; performance at 7pm This dynamic music and lit show features Chicago’s top storytellers, original songs, and live music that complement each story. Curated by performer/storyteller Arlene Malinowski and songwriter Stephanie Rogers. Saturday, September 14- CANDELA PA’ RAGDALE Performance at 5pm; dinner at 6pm A multimedia dinner party in the Ragdale Ring and garden that celebrates Afro-Puerto Rican culture through the lens of art, performance, and food. Curated by Elastic Arts co-founder Sam Lewis. All events take place at Ragdale, located at 1230 N. Green Bay Road in Lake Forest. Free off-site parking and shuttle service are available at the municipal lot in downtown Lake Forest, on the northwest side of Oakwood Avenue and Deerpath Road. Drop-off at Ragdale is also possible. In the event of rain, performances will take place inside. Admission is $20/person; $15 Students and seniors, 12 years and under free. Groups of 8 or more will receive two for one tickets at $10 each. Tickets are available through the website at ragdale.org and also at the door.
