Vehicle Stickers

2020-2021 Vehicle Sticker and Pet License renewal information will be delayed until City offices reopen.  The due date will be extended beyond May 1st.

Please be advised that enforcement of vehicle stickers and pet licenses has been suspended while City offices are closed.

City ordinance requires all motor vehicles registered to a City of Lake Forest address to have a displayed Lake Forest vehicle sticker. Any vehicle registered to a City of Lake Forest address without a vehicle sticker displayed is subject to fine or penalties. The vehicle sticker year is May 1 to April 30. The deadline for purchasing and displaying current stickers is April 30. Beginning May 1, a 50% late fee is added, and the resident will be at risk of receiving a $75.00 ticket from the Police Department. The fees for vehicle stickers are listed below.

New Lake Forest residents should obtain a vehicle sticker after registering their vehicle to their Lake Forest address through the Illinois Secretary of State. Please bring the IL Vehicle Registration ID Card, along with proof of residency, to Municipal Services to purchase your vehicle sticker. Lake Forest residents whose vehicles are registered outside of The City of Lake Forest have the option of purchasing a Beach Parking sticker, which allows parking at the north end of Forest Park Beach. Please bring your current vehicle registration ID card to Municipal Services to purchase your Beach Parking sticker over the counter. Those who purchase a new vehicle should obtain a vehicle sticker within 72 hours of the vehicle purchase to avoid a possible ticket for failing to display a current city vehicle license. Please bring the Illinois Registration ID card and vehicle purchase receipt to Municipal Services so the purchase date can be verified and the late fee will be waived.

Parking at Forest Park Beach in The City of Lake Forest is prohibited unless the vehicle displays a City of Lake Forest vehicle sticker or Beach Parking sticker. These are available for purchase at the Municipal Services Building, 800 N. Field Drive, Lake Forest. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please Note:

  • Vehicle stickers must be purchased by April 30, 2019 and displayed by May 1, 2019.
  • As of May 1st, the vehicle license fee includes a 50% late penalty* fee for residents who have not renewed their vehicle sticker as required by ordinance.

*Late Penalty will be waived when you provide proof that your vehicle has been purchased or newly registered in Lake Forest in the last 30 days, just bring your purchasing contract, or other proof of purchase/lease date, along with your Illinois Vehicle Registration ID card into Municipal Services. New residents are required to provide their IL Vehicle Registration ID Card, letter, or email from the Illinois Secretary of State reflecting their Lake Forest address.
