Pet Licenses

Every owner who keeps, harbors, or otherwise maintains a dog or cat more than four months of age in the City shall register such dog or cat and procure and pay for a pet license each year.  The license year is May 1 - April 30.

No dog shall be permitted to run at large in The City of Lake Forest. Dogs must be leashed in all City parks, and owners are required to clean up after their dogs.  No dog shall be permitted, except on a leash, to use or be upon any public street, sidewalk, or parkway. Dogs are not permitted at Forest Park Beach.

The  fee for the annual pet license tag is $10 each. The Police Department can easily identify the owner of a pet found running loose by the number on the pet license tag.  Pet licenses can be ordered online with your unique PIN#, or you can visit Municipal Services, 800 N Field Dr (8:00am - 4:30pm, Mon-Fri), to purchase a pet license.  The rabies certificate is not required for the purchase of a pet license.  Questions can be directed to the Finance Department, 847-810-3631.
