New Splash Pad Coming to Townline Park

There will be a new place to stay cool this summer – a splash pad at Townline Park!

Construction began in April and is expected to be completed early summer. Townline Park, including the playground and pavilion, will remain open during construction. Please be cautious near the construction area and be aware of periodic movement of equipment. We appreciate your patience while the new splashpad is begin constructed and installed.

The first of its kind in Lake Forest, the splash pad will be a place for children to gather, play, and cool off during the summer months. Interactive features including different spouts, sprays, fountains, and bubblers will offer sensory rich, creative, and engaging play opportunities.

Splash pads provide a unique opportunity for inclusive, safe water play. For a variety of reasons including mobility, swim skill, developmental challenges, child to parent supervision ratio, etc., it may not be feasible or practical for some families to visit the beach or go to a swimming pool.

A splash pad creates safe access to the wonder and love of water for families with children of all ages, abilities, and circumstances. The features are designed to be accessible and are organized by size so there is a natural separation of older and younger children, while still the ability to all play and socialize together.

Construction Update from June 17: Construction is coming along and water elements are being installed this week. The control panel that powers the water features is on backorder. However, the City has been having daily conversations with the supplier to ensure that our splash pad stays at the top of the list for fulfillment. Once the control panel has been installed, staff will undergo training to make sure the splashpad is well-run and maintained. Then the Townline Park Splash Pad will open for all to enjoy!
