Forest Ave Parking Lot Resurfacing Begins Aug. 4

The City of Lake Forest is planning to begin work to resurface the Forest Avenue parking lot located between Forest Avenue and Oakwood Avenue just north of City Hall. The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 4 (after Lake Forest Day) and be completed by August 26, weather permitting.

The Forest Ave Parking Lot pavement will be replaced with new surface, the parking spaces will be restriped, and drainage improvements will be made. To minimize impacts, portions of the parking lot will remain open for most of the project.

Project schedule (subject to change):

  • August 4-18: Concrete work, portions of the parking lot will be closed while access is maintained to other parking spaces
  • August 22-26: Resurfacing, the entire parking lot will need to be closed

Vehicles displaying the Central Business District parking permit are welcome to park at one of the other City owned parking lots during the closure of the Forest Avenue Parking Lot. Find parking lot locations at www.cityoflakeforest.com/parking.

Based on recommendations from the City's Environmental Sustainability Committee, the Forest Ave Parking Lot Resurfacing Project also features several sustainable elements, including a special stormwater quality structure and the installation of two electric vehicle charging stations. The City received a $7,500 program award to support the installation of the two electrical vehicle charging stations in the Forest Ave Parking Lot!

The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd partner to administer the Powering Safe Communities Program, which provides grants for local public safety and electrification projects. Recognizing that electrification can reduce carbon emissions, improve public health outcomes, and advance community resiliency, there was a special focus on electrification projects this year. Aligned with these program goals, the City submitted a grant application and received a $7,500 program award to support the installation of two electrical vehicle charging stations in the Forest Avenue parking lot. Thanks to the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd for this generous award to support the installation of this important green infrastructure.
