At the southeast corner:
The sheet pile driving for the pump station building is complete!
Excavation for the pump station will begin the week of March 1 and several trucks will be staged along Ahwahnee Lane.
On Deerpath Golf Course:
Excavation and topsoil placement is continuing at Detention Pond #1 (adjacent to Rte. 41) and at Detention Pond #2 further to the east. Trucks will be staged on Clover Avenue (the entrance to Deerpath Golf Course).
At the northwest corner:  A boring pit has been excavated at the southbound Rte. 41 exit at Deerpath. This is where the contractor will be directional boring a pipe under Rte. 41, the bike path, and the Union Pacific freight train line. The exit ramp will be temporarily closed when the drainage pipe for the west pond at the Deerpath Golf Course is installed in a few weeks.
Contractors are working from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Should Deerpath need to be reduced to one lane, flaggers will be present to direct trucks entering and exiting Deerpath Golf Course.

Did You Know?  The City’s Forestry Section partnered with Lake Forest Open Lands to transplant some of the trees that were removed from the construction site onto the Deerpath Golf Course and Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve.

The important project to mitigate the flooding problem at Deerpath and Rte. 41 is scheduled to begin and will be funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) at a cost of $12,127,335. The project is expected to be completed by December of 2022.

A new pumping station will be constructed at the southwest corner of Ahwahnee Lane and Deerpath Road.  The current equipment, initially installed in 1951, has been malfunctioning for years and must be replaced.  At the same time, new storm sewers will be installed and two detention ponds will be created on the Deerpath Golf Course.  In addition, both lanes on Deepath under Rte. 41 will be widened, and two dedicated left turn lanes will be created to improve safety and the flow of traffic at the intersection.

The City appreciates your patience and understanding during this disruptive period.  However, residents and affected institutions (Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, Deer Path Middle School, Faith Lutheran Church, Deerpath Golf Course) should expect traffic delays.
