Milana Astorino
Personal Trainer/Group Exercise Instructor

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from National Louis University.
Personal Interests: Enjoys watching movies, dancing, reading and going to the theater.
Past Experience:

  • Started teaching at the age of 17
  • Worked for Lake Forest College as a fitness instructor
  • Worked at Bannockburn Bath & Tennis as a fitness instructor
  • Competed in National Aerobic Championships finished 2nd   place in 1993

For the past twenty years, she has taught at various fitness clubs, dance studios and schools throughout the Chicago and North Shore area. Currently, Milana is training/ coaching individuals of all ages and types, including dancers and athletes who want to improve their skill level, well-being and performance in their field. 

Cate Demet
Personal Trainer

  • Attended Stevenson HS -3 sport varsity athlete volleyball, basketball, track - All State Volleyball - high jump record 5'4''
  • Louisiana State University - Baton Rouge - Volleyball Scholarship SEC Champs 1986 and 1988
  • Masters at Dominican University - River Forest, IL

Worked corporate, married, two sons, personal training at home since 2001.  Has done 10 Chicago Marathons, over 150 triathlons, elite stair climber ranked #17 and I have done product testing for sports companies.

John Gard
Personal Trainer

Personal Interests:  In his spare time when John is not traveling, he enjoys walking, golfing and working out.

Niki Hoskins

Chris Pommer
Personal Trainer

  • AFAA Certified Personal Trainer
  • CPR American Heart Association

Personal Interests: Golf, hiking, mountain biking and running.

Chris is a successful exercise enthusiast with 20 years of weight training experience. Overall success depends on form, technique, determination and motivation! Chris’ objective in working with the Fitness Center is to share this knowledge, while giving support and direction to individuals who want to focus on proper weight training and related programs. Chris has been employed with the Fitness Center since 2000.


Jim Risi
Personal Trainer

Personal Interests: In his spare time, Jim coaches Youth Traveling Baseball, Youth Fitness & Training, and baseball clinics throughout Lake County. Jim is an avid runner and is an experienced sports specific trainer. Jim works with all populations. He has worked at Lake Forest Fitness Center since it opened.

Past Experience: Jim has been a Personal Trainer for the past 30 years, and has also teaches youth athletic classes.


Joey Risi 
Personal Trainer


Fitness Background: Joey is an avid weightlifter and has been training with his father for many years. His vast knowledge of sports-specific training allows him to tailor workouts to each individual.

Ester Sloan
Title: Personal Trainer/Group Exercise Instructor



  • Inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame in 2010 as the pioneer of Latin rhythm and dance in the aerobic industry.
  • Awarded the 2010 Keeper of the Flame Award by the Chicago nternational Salsa Congress.
  • Featured in the 2011 AETNA Insurance commemorative Latino calendar “Dancing to be Healthy”.

Allen Walker
Personal Trainer

  • Nationally Certified Sports Therapist
  • Red Cross CPR AED Certified

Personal Interests: Weight Lifting, Running, Volleyball, Tennis, Skiing, and anything outdoors!

Allen works on the entire body top to bottom, first by getting the arms toned, the CORE (Abs, back and hips) stronger and then making sure the legs are performing at 100%.

Stretching techniques are incorporated during the session, thus providing more muscle tonicity.
