Program Information

We have partnered with Lake Bluff Park District to enhance your basketball experience. Games and practices will be held in both communities. Teams will consist of players from both communities.

PROGRAM FORMAT
House League Basketball will feature different levels of competition as kids get older. Beginning with the most basic of fundamentals at the Kindergarten level and climaxing at 7th - 8th Grade with high-level competition. While competition escalates through the years, FUN and skill development is at the foundation at all levels. All levels will feature several practices before games are played, with the goal of skill development at the forefront. Playoff tournaments will be featured at 5th Grade and above to help provide more competition.

GOALS OF YOUTH BASKETBALL
The purpose of Lake Forest Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball Program is to provide young people with a safe and enjoyable athletic experience with an emphasis on sportsmanship, fair play, and skill development. All participants will be instructed in the fundamental skills of the sport including positioning, rules, and basic strategy. Fundamental playing rules will be taught and enforced at a rate that is suitable to each age level. All players will be assured of playing at least 50% of each game and the opportunity to play every position with regular practice attendance. Competition level increases as players get older. PRACTICE = PLAY!
