Youth Creative Arts Programs

We provide opportunities for children kindergarten through 8th grade to learn new skills or improve on a current skill in the arts. Children of all ability levels and interest will be encouraged to try and develop an interest or hobby that can last a lifetime.

Programs will be offered year round to both boys and girls. Classes will emphasize the individual's sense of creativity. Workshops, as well as long-term, 8-12 week classes will be available to meet the needs of children at different interest levels. Classes for advanced students will be offered, as well as for the beginner.   register_white

Dynamic Ceramics
This introduction to ceramics will emphasize creative expression through the use of
clay. Participants will explore the basic approaches to clay including coil, pinch, and
slab drape methods. Great seasonal projects will be made. Students should have two
sessions of Ceramics before moving on to Young Potters.

Art Attack
Young artists will have opportunities to enjoy and explore the creative process
with a wide variety of art materials. We’ll papier-mache, paint, print, collage,
draw, and more while creating open-ended, positive art experiences.

Drawing and Painting
Be the next Picasso! Join this class and spend time enjoying drawing and painting. The media will include pencils, pastels, charcoal, watercolor and tempera paints. Now is the time to develop your artistic style.

Young Potters
This class is for students who are interested in learning about the potter’s wheel and
developing the skills required in wheel throwing. Functional pottery projects will be
emphasized. Students should complete at least two sessions of Dynamic Ceramics
before participating in this class. Exceptions for older students can be made.

Teen Art Studio
This class works on developing drawing and painting skills in order to compose highly individual work. Different mediums and art styles are explored. Basic materials will be provided

Hand Building with my Parent
(6-12Y with Parent)
This is a parent and child pottery class. Parents and their children will work together using the four techniques of hand building (coil, slab, pinch-pull, and piece mounting). Class participants will create one of a kind pieces of artwork to cherish forever. Registration includes one parent and one child. Additional children must be registered.
