Youth Recreation

The Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of education youth programming opportunites. These specific classes can be catagorized into two specific sections, our early childhood educational programs, specific to Pre-K to Kindergarten, and Youth Recreation designed for grade school participants.

Our Early Childhood Education program provides positive recreational opportunities to children, infant through 2 1/2 years with a parent, and for 2 1/2 through 8 years in drop-off classes where the parent does not stay with the child during the program.

The Youth Recreation programing provides programming opportunities for children grades 1st-4th. These classes are developed to expand upon curriculum developed in school and also stimulate to knowledge by delving into material not covered in a school environment.

Both program areas are designed with the needs of the specific age group in mind. Programs focus on being fund and a safe palce to meet, make new friends and learn new skills. While being exposed to new activities, participants will continue to develop their socialization as well as fine, gross motor and cognitive skills. Equipment and supplies will be safe and interesting for the children to use and explore. Programs will be offered and changed seasonally to make the best use our our natural surroundings.
